The forms for the walls were removed and the outside was waterproofed on Thursday. On Friday the drain tile was added inside and outside the foundation – this is in addition to the form that also acts as a drain tile – we do not want to have any flooding. Pipe is a good investment right now! On Friday the driveway was extended, taking many loads of gravel. Once the trucks could get to the garage, this was loaded with gravel, then dumped over the edge to the basement – the muddy conditions would not allow the dump trucks to get back up the hill.

This evening Jyll and I took a look around – the basement looks very large today – this will change one the 1st floor and walls are added.

Next up are a few odds and ends before the floor gets poured – currently scheduled for next Friday. The plumber and HVAC subs will be doing some work, followed by an inspection, then addition of the tubing for the radiant floor heat.

Things dried out today – there are a lot of tracks going up and down the hill from all of the work thus far.

After the Memorial Day weekend, the forms for the basement walls started going up.  The pics from Tuesday were taken as the forms were being set-up.  The forms were completed on Wednesday just as a rain shower moved rolled in.  The concrete needed to be pumped into the forms to avoid having stuck trucks!  The pics from today were taken after the pour, which was interrupted for about 30 minutes because a thunder storm had moved in.  By evening the concrete had set-up.

Good progress today, all the footers were poured. The concrete trucks had a bit of a challenge with the mostly clay soil around the build site. Check it out!

While I (Jyll) was in Nashville at a conference this week, the landscape of the property changed dramatically! On Monday and Tuesday (May 18-19), the basement was dug as well as the areas required by the garage for footers.

John shared pictures via Dropbox and walked me through them. Enjoy the slideshow!
